Our Vision

Our vision is for Skincaf to embrace the majlis and coffee house ethos by providing a unique space – virtual and eventually physical – that encourages and promotes dialogue about healthy skin and the culture of beauty.

Skincaf is not just a product but a place to discover, learn and connect in a way that is skin deep – a safe space for women of all creeds to be part of a community that encourages them to love the skin their in.

Historically, coffee houses gained fame as places for intellectual discussions, political debates, and social expression – they appeal to the human desire for social interaction and connection even if one plans to be alone. Coffee houses are modern day majlis.

Our Story

The journey to what has been developed took trial and error, experimentation and ultimately, courage. From coffee scrubs created at home, to pursuing an education to understand the science of beauty and finally arriving at the decision to create something that is good, natural and kind on the skin.

I was going for my usual afternoon coffee at the only café at my workplace when the barista handed me a gift of wet coffee grounds that he usually throws away. I was to turn it into a body scrub but he wanted no trouble, so he instructed me to do my own research before using it.

I went back home that same day to start my long research on how coffee grounds can be turned into a body scrub. I realized that the process is simple and thought to expand it into a business of my own. With lots of research and experimentation, I bought every ingredient I can get my hands on to make 4 types of body scrubs available to my customers.

The sales of the body scrubs were rising, with it came the fear of accountability and I decided to stop my business and pursue an education in skincare formulation to understand the science behind skincare formulation. This is when I stumbled upon Formula Botanica’s Diploma in Natural Skincare Formulation that taught me the correct way of formulating many kinds of products and currently studying a Diploma in Beauty Business Management that will hopefully help me in managing Skincaf successfully. With many hours spent in studying and experimentations, I came to fall in love with all kinds of makeup removing methods that I learned during the course and developed many versions of the Miracle Blue Tansy Makeup Melting Cleansing Balm. With some help from a natural cosmetics manufacturing team, Skincaf was born.
